Daily Devotional for April 29

April 29                                                              Luke 9:1-17

             Since Wen

                                  "Since wen," she said,
                                        "Did you be God?
                               Since wen do you know how
It be to see yo' baby die of a fit in the 'mergency room
                             Wit his brother lookin' on?
                            You white woman wit a pencil
                                            In yo' hand.
                          You go back and tell them kids
                        Thet they ain't gonna be no food
                              In the kitchen. Just bugs.
                                No food cuz the govamint
                   Think we got too much money ahready."

Dear Creator,
So much around me seems unfair. I look for some "bureau"
or "center" or "office" where I can direct those who need
so much. Next time I try to refer them on, please say to me
as you did to the apostles, "You give them something to eat."
Remind me that I have every chance to multiply the portion
that I have. Give me your hand and your permission. Oh, and
send someone with baskets for the leftovers.
